Budapest (Year 1/2)
Welcome to Budapest!
Last Monday, we learnt all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. We found out all about the story by acting it out. Can you remember the people involved? Did you know that today people put a pretend Guy Fawkes on top of bonfires?
We worked with our home tables to create splatter firework pictures. We splatted poster paint on to black sugar paper so it looked like fireworks in the night sky. Some of us got a bit messy!
Hedingham Castle Trip
Last Tuesday, we went to Hedingham Castle. We had a great time exploring all the rooms of the castle. Can you remember which was your favourite? We also had a talk from Graeme all about life in the olden days and the weapons they used. Did you know that rich people only ate white bread which was only white because it had chalk in it? I hope none of our sandwiches had chalk in!
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
On Monday, we learnt all about remembrance day and why we wear poppies. We said that we wear poppies to remember all the soldiers that fought for us. We remember soldiers from the past and soldiers today. Alfie said we wear poppies because they are the flowers that grew on the fields where soldiers fought for us during the First World War.
We did some poppy art using different media. Can you remember what we used?
