Reading

Reading books and home learning journals should be taken home and brought to school every day. We expect children to be reading at home regularly – sharing a book together is a great way to model speed, tone, pitch and intonation.

Please take time to record in your child’s home learning journal when you read with them as this will help to form a dialogue between home and school. Year 2 children will complete an Accelerated Reader quiz to support their comprehension skills.

Below is a suggested reading list for Key Stage 1 children. It details books by a wide range of authors and illustrators, you might want to start exploring some at home with your child.
