Computing

At Richard Whittington, we view computing as an integral component of the curriculum.  Our overall aim is to teach explicit elements as well as enhancing learning in all areas of the curriculum through the use of computing.  In the context of the development of the computing strands, we teach our pupils to become confident in handling hardware, software and other computing equipment and to develop their basic coding skills and subject specific vocabulary. Through our explicit teaching, children develop the ability to use computing equipment and begin to understand the role of computing encountered in daily life and in thh wider world. It is envisaged that computing will enhance the process of the teaching and learning in all areas of the curriculum, enhancing communication skills and creating a deeper understanding of its value in society.
