My name is Jade Swales and I am the Pastoral Leader at Richard Whittington School. I have worked in both Primary and Secondary Schools supporting families and children for 10 years and previously worked within local authority in the housing department. My knowledge and experience will enable me to fully support the whole Richard Whittington community. 

My role is to meet the needs of young people within our school with behavioural, emotional, and mental health difficulties, many of whom have a barrier to learning. Monitoring and working with families to improve school attendance is a vital part of this role. As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, I will be working across the school monitoring any safeguarding concerns or issues that may arise.  

As Pastoral Leader I am committed to ensure the most disadvantaged pupils have full access to the education and extended school opportunities we have to offer and help to help them overcome barriers to learning and participation. I can provide information to parents and can signpost to other external agencies for activities, courses and opportunities to provide extra support for pupils and their families.
