Richard Whittington School is consulting on the proposed admissions arrangements for the school year 2026/27 and is seeking responses from parent/carers, schools and community groups.
The proposed change is:
- to include an oversubscription criteria for children of staff

3rd November - Online system opens for you to apply online
15th January - Deadline to apply for school place

Nursery applications
Nursery pupils can start the term after they become 3 years old.
The school now deals with Nursery applications internally. Applications will need to be made by the nursery admissions link when it opens in January
• Monday 12th January 2026 - Application Form open to apply
• Friday 6th March 2026 - Application system closes
• Monday 16th March 2026 - Places offered directly to parents by email
• Friday 24th April 2026 -Deadline for parents to accept places
Nursery pupils can attend full time (35/30 hours per week) or part time (15 hours per week). Additional hours are charged at £5 per hour.
If you wish to apply for a place during the school year, or transfer from another nursery, please contact the school office.
Reception applications
Reception pupils start in the September of the academic year in which they become 5 years old (the academic year runs from 1 September to 31 August).
Herts County Council will send parents a booklet about how to apply and the application process in early November.
Reception pupils attend full time from 1st September. Our Published Area Number (PAN) is 30 pupils.

If you wish to apply for a place during the school year, or transfer from another school, please contact Hertfordshire County Council at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk to make an application.
After Allocation Day
During the summer term, following pupil allocations, you will receive a set of admission papers from the school for completion. You will also receive an invitation for your child to spend some time with their new class during July. Home visits are arranged for Nursery and Reception pupils.
