Rabbi Irit
Rabbi Irit
On Thursday 23rd February Years 2 and 4 were excited to welcome Rabbi Irit Shillor, from Harlow Synagogue, back to our school.
Irit lead workshops exploring the Jewish tradition of Shabbat and the festival of Passover (Pesach). Along with sharing lots of Jewish artefacts and symbols, she also told us the story of Passover, when the Israelites escaped slavery in Egypt. Afterwards the children were delighted to have the opportunity to taste the special unleavened bread, Matzah. To finish the session, Irit taught the children the Hebrew greeting 'Shalom' and a song we could all sing together.
It was such an informative and engaging session which generated lots of enthusiasm and fantastic questions from each class. We look forward to Irit visiting us again in the future!
